Zooks Travel Diary - Mount Morgan

MOUNT MORGAN

Barely a blip on the radar. Most people I have met have never even heard of the place. But for well over 100 years this town was a thriving Gold mining mecca.

Today the population is a fairly meagre 4,000 or so. And due to the age of the township and lower standard of living (salary etc) since the closure of the mine. Mount Morgan seems on the surface to be another dying town that appears to offer nothing.

Delve a little deeper into the history of this place and you will find a fascinating and colourful history that has helped to shape the region.

Product Reviews - The Dual Cab Ute Story

THE DUAL CAB UTE STORY

This is not a tech article, but my 1st hand experience, the information in this story is to the best of my ability (so do your own research) but is My Opinion only.
Prices are as quoted to me in December 2007

Well after my accident & the insurance company writing off our Holden Rodeo single cab 2wd, we decided the next would be a dual cab 4x4 for maximum versatility.

All the models I test drove were Diesel, cab chassis spec & Manual unless stated otherwise. All prices were to include, on roads, Air con, Cd player & aluminium tray. Spec of vehicle was to be base model.

So off to the car yards I went, I had my money organised so that was no problem, all they had to do, was have 1 in stock that I could test drive & give me their best price. Each salesmen was told the same thing, No trade, money organised, has to be in stock for a sale this week, Best price straight up.
I would be test driving every model on the market & money will be the deciding factor, I will be buying this week.

Camping - Beginners Guide to Camper Trailers

BEGINNERS GUIDE TO CAMPER TRAILERS

When I began to think of ideas to write an article about camper trailers I thought it would be easy. I mean surely there are only a few basic designs with only a few hundred dollars difference between models. Right? WRONG! After visiting the 4WD and Adventure show at McCallum Park in November I now profess to displaying certain symptoms of naivety.

As a result of this new found innocence I endeavoured to sift amongst the many ranks of camper trailers that were on show. For a start prices ranged from $4500 and went all the way to $40000. That?s more than a lot of the caravans that were on display. So what was the difference between the two prices besides a trip to the bank for a second mortgage?

It really does depend on taste. Some trailers do look more ?pretty? but may not be as practical. They may come in different colours but if a silver one is going to cost you more than a green one, which one will you buy?

Zooks Travel Diary - MT JIM CROW NATIONAL PARK

MT JIM CROW NATIONAL PARK

This is a dominant rock feature situated approximately halfway between Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

It is relatively small as far as national parks go. Approximately 144 hectares in total. Sounds tiny, but as I discovered, this mountain is more gruelling than it looks.
